Description
For many years, different silicates have been used as corrosion inhibitors. The silicates are hydrolyzed in water to produce negative charged colloid particles that move to the anodic point where they form a film. Silicate film can be formed on clean surfaces and gradually cover all metal surfaces. It is important to control the amount of dissolved oxygen in water during using this solution, and high oxygen levels can lead to the destruction of the corrosion resistant layer. Polymeric silicates provide better protection against corrosion. The combination of silicates with phosphates is very useful in controlling the sediment particles in closed-circuit cooling towers. Mitreh 956 solution with special formulation is used for protection of closed circuit cooling towers.
Calibration of Using Mitreh 956 Solution:
In order to prevent the formation scale and corrosion in closed circuit cooling tower systems, the amount of solution consumption varies depending on hardness of the inlet water.
To calculate more accurately, consider the following:
- Sample analysis of system feed water
- Ensuring that the system is clean (in terms of scale and other contaminants)
- The amount of water circulating and the volume of water consumed (make-up)
- Complete system monitoring and field inspection of various parts of the circuit in terms of corrosion
Some Physical Properties of the Solution:
Property | Property | ||
Liquid | Physical state | 10.1 – 10.7 | pH |
Colorless | Color | 96 – 98 | Boiling temperature range (˚C) |
Odorless | Odor | -3 – 0 | Freezing temperature range (˚C) |
1.027 – 1.032 | Density at 20˚C (gr⁄ml) | Dissolves rapidly | Solubility in water |
