Soil amendment foam (drilling foam)

Drilling foam or soil amendment foam is a liquid with a suitable viscosity that is used in drilling semi-deep salt and fresh water wells, drilling oil wells, tunneling with drilling machines, tunneling, dam construction, etc. Most mechanized TBM tunnel drilling systems, exploration and oil and gas wells are drilled and ready for operation using this strong foaming agent.

Choosing the right drilling foam

In choosing the right foam, various factors such as the stability and half-life of the foam in the soil environment, anti-wear properties, anti-clogging, anti-corrosion of metals, the rate and power of penetration into the ground, economy and environmental compatibility should be considered.

In general, additives are injected into the tunnel face, the chamber behind the cutterhead (chamber) and the spiral conveyor. Injection at the work front and through nozzles designed on the cutterhead, while improving and treating the drilling materials to facilitate the extraction of materials, can reduce friction and reduce wear between the cutterhead, cutting tools and cutterhead body with the soil.
